SceneWeaver and Cameras: Did you know...?

That every time you click the 'Save' button, SceneCaster automatically cycles through every camera in your scene and takes a picture? All of these images (along with any links you've added) will now appear on your scene details page for everyone to see...and judge! So before you hit that 'Save' button for the final time, best take a cycle through all of the views of your room to make sure you haven't got all of your cameras stuck behind objects. It's the equivalent of posting 25 photos of your thumb in front of the Eiffel tower on flickr.

Quel dommage!

And now, a brief lesson:

How NOT to do it: because no one needs to see what you're keeping in the dark recesses of your scenes.

How to do it the right way so that you'll earn the adulation of thousands and definitely get promoted to the Scene Spotlight.

Now go make me proud.

Creating Linked Scenes

By now many of you have had a chance to create a new project or modify one of your old ones with SC’s latest release. Hopefully you’ve noted now that your scene details page now includes the SceneWeaver universal viewer. One of the coolest features of SceneCaster is that you can now add your own links to any object in your scene using the ‘Link’ icon in the toolbar.

Take a look at my scene ‘At the Apple Store’ where some of the characters will take you to other scenes, while the Apple logo will take you to the online Apple store. Maybe I’m biased, but it’s awesome!

The New Face of SceneCaster

After launching SceneCaster in September of 2007 we all took about 15 minutes to celebrate, cross our fingers and breathe a sigh of relief...then we got back to work on making it better.

Today we're launching a new chapter for SceneCaster on Facebook with a new look, more features, better networking, more features, wider browser support and more features!

First and foremost among these is the release of SceneWeaver, our universal scene viewer. SceneWeaver will extend the reach of SceneCaster by allowing SceneCasters to post virtual tours of the scenes they've created, along with links to other scenes and other web pages to their blogs and other web pages. SceneWeaver will extend the 3D experience of SC to multiple platforms and devices (iPhones, mac's, Blackberry's, etc.) without having to download the SC editor. Think of the possibilities: now you can link all of your scenes together and create your own virtual world, add links to your favorite websites (even facebook pages), post it to your blog and view it on your iPod touch! We're really excited about this and we hope you like it. View a sample SceneWeaver here: http://blog.scenecaster.com/2008/01/weve-just-announced-sceneweaver.html

We've also re-vamped the SceneCaster site on facebook to give proper attention to all of you die-hard SceneCasters. Our new home page will feature leaderboards, user and scene spotlights, a discussion panel and the latest and greatest tips and tricks to makes your scenes stand out.

I hope you've enjoyed SceneCaster so far, cuz we're just warming up...
